Junior High Camps


Junior High Camps: These camps are offered to youth who have finished grades 6-8. All but one of our camps are six day/five night camps, encompassing a number of activates that engage and embolden all who participate. Our junior high camps build on the activities done in elementary camp, though new challenging activities await. Our extended junior high camp, a traditional favorite, is now a two-week long camp, full of fun activities and lots of tradition, including our Olympics. New for Summer Camp 2008 is our week of Equestrian camp, June 9-14. Our Equestrian campers will experience beginning to moderate horseback riding during the day, while participating in traditional group activities and worship each night at Camp Lake Stephens. Both long-time horse riders and those new to Camp Lake Stephens are welcome at our Equestrian Camp. All horse work will be off-site, and campers will participate in camp activities with the junior high groups at Camp Lake Stephens upon return from Equestrian work. Now in their third year for summer 2008, our adventure camps provide opportunities for youth to participate in specialized adventure activities that they might not find elsewhere. Two of the camps will be 3 day/2 night white-water rafting trips on the Ocoee River. Another will be a 3 day/2 night rock-climbing/mountain biking trip to the Chattanooga area. In its second year, the3 day/ 2night canoeing trip to the 11-point River in Missouri gives campers and opportunity to experience a challenging float trip. Also new this summer, there will a Treehouse camp week for junior high, that give them the opportunity to do all the traditional CLS activities while staying in our new cabins.
