YOUTH EVENTS Dare to Lead Offered in the Fall, Dare to Lead is a retreat for youth groups. This much-awaited retreat is a time of renewal, reinvigoration, and fun that occurs within the beautiful fall setting of Camp Lake Stephens. During the weekend, there are times for youth groups to come together and bond, while enjoying the fun activities offered. Great speakers and worship leaders lead the weekend, teaching and motivating youth to carry what they experience in the weekend with them as they go back home. Because this retreat is offered to youth groups, Camp Lake Stephens requires that each group bring its own chaperones (we require 1 chaperone per 7 youth) to each event. Dare to Lead 2008 has been split into two different weekends, one for junior high and one for high school. The dates for Dare to Lead 2008 are: For more information on Dare to Lead, email Russell Casteel at russell@camplakestephens.com. For registration questions and information, email Kelli at cls@camplakestephens.com. Overflow One of the most popular retreats offered, Overflow is held over the New Years Holiday. Youth groups come to Camp Lake Stephens to usher in the new year, while renewing their commitments to one another and God throughout the retreat. The retreat is called Overflow with good reason; Camp Lake Stephens is always overbooked for the retreat, and has groups from all over the state come in to experience this traditional happening. Because this retreat is offered to youth groups, Camp Lake Stephens requires that each group bring its own chaperones (we require 1 chaperone per 7 youth) to each event. Overflow 2007 will be held from December 30-January 1. The speaker will be Mark Fritchman, and the music will be led by long time friend of Camp Lake Stephens Eddie Willis, and his band, Narrow Path. Total cost of the retreat is $90, and a $40 deposit is required to be sent in with your registration form. Once registered, we will send you health forms. Overflow forms are due December 14th. Winter Retreat Brand new to Camp Lake Stephens, the Winter Retreat will be held on January 19-21, 2008. Rather than being geared towards youth groups, this retreat was created for Camp Lake Stephens summer campers who might not have the opportunity to attend a youth group retreat like Dare to Lead or Overflow. As such, we bring in our own counselors to lead the event, and the weekend will be run with them as chaperones, each cabin having a different counselor provided by us. This year's programming will include the music of Matt Murray, an experienced worship leader, and the speaking of David Liggitt, a friend of Camp Lake Stephens and renowned youth pastor. Together, they will teach us "How to Be an Idiot," exploring through word and song what it means to follow God and Christ. Campers should look forward to worship, learning, and of course, the Camp Lake Stephens essentials. For more information on Winter Retreat, email Russell Casteel at russell@camplakestephens.com.
